GHOST-WRITING AND GUEST AUTHORSHIP

Honesty in science is one of its quality foundations. The evidence of the ethical attitude of an academic worker and the highest editorial standards is the openness of the information on the subjects contributing to creating the publication ( objective, factual, financial contribution). That is why the Editorial Board of ‘Chemistry, Environment, Biotechnology” requires from the authors of the publications to present the results of their work in a clear, transparent and honest way, in this way counteracting the incidents of ghost-writing and guest authorship.

Ghostwriting takes place when somebody contributed in an extensive way to the publication without revealing their participation as one of the authors, or without any acknowledgments placed in the publication.

Guest authorship takes place when the participation of the author is minimal, or non-existent, and still he is an author, or co-author of the publication.

Information on detected cases of ghostwriting and/or guest authorship will be passed to the relevant subjects: institutions employing the authors, academic societies, scientific editorial boards, and the like. Along with the paper, the authors of the publication submit a proper declaration and submit a percentage participation in the preparation of the work. [pdf] [doc]
